Teen Budgeting
For the past few months it has become clear that America has entered into a recession.
The unemployment rate is on the rise and jobs are harder to find than ever before. This puts extra pressure on teenagers to budget their money and spend wisely.
Jeremiah Bostic is a senior at George Washington Carver Center for the Arts and Technology, and has his own plan for staying afloat financially during these rough economic times.
Jeremiah practices finding fun activities he can do at home such as, playing video games like guitar hero, or inviting friends over to watch movies instead of going to the movie theater.
Little changes like these can save teenagers a great deal of money in the long run.
Here are some helpful tips to take control of your money.
- Shop Wisely – Buy items based on need and not emotion
- Budget Yourself – Set aside money for various purchases
- Set Goals – Choose items you truly want and purchase only what you need
- Show me the money – Keep a list of the items that you buy
