Daiyaan Colbert
Daiyaan Colbert is a junior at Catonsville High School. This is his first year in the Teen Media Project. Daiyaan is the Associate Editor and Design Editor for his school’s newspaper, “The Comet”. Daiyaan’s award winning coverage of Catonsville High’s bomb threat spree highlighted important concerns about the administrations handling of evacuations and the police department’s response to school emergencies. Daiyaan is Junior Class SGA Vice President, he’s the Assistant Director for the Winter Musical Production of Pippin, he plays the trumpet and is a member of the morning announcements crew at CHS. Daiyaan is also a music lover and never leaves home without his iPod.
Jenny Rosen
Jenny Rosen has been in the Teen Media Project for two years. She is a junior at Owings Mills High School. She is involved in many clubs at school, including Kids Helping Hopkins, Student Government Association, National Honor Society and more. Her favorite subjects are English and Journalism. Jenny both writes and designs pages for the Owings Mills Eagle’s Eye newspaper. When she isn’t doing schoolwork, Jenny enjoys going out with her friends and shopping at her favorite store, Urban Outfitters. This year in the Teen Media Project she is looking forward to expanding her on-camera ability and trying out producing.
Mikella Wickham
Mikella Wickham is a sophomore at the Park School of Baltimore. A well-rounded student, Mikella likes English, especially writing, but also enjoys science because she is curious about why things happen. Along with academics, she is a part of her mock trial team and the student senate and plays piano and guitar at a school program, Goldsounds, on Friday nights. She loves to hang out with her friends, especially when they have “jam sessions.” Her past achievements include first place in a poetry contest and she was her middle school’s president.
Sonia Gupta
Sonia Gupta is a very tenacious and motivated sophomore at Dulaney High School. She aspires to one day host TV shows such as Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, Project Runway …and the list goes on. She is an idealist and a romantic at heart. Psychology is her current area of interest. In her spare time, she does ballroom dancing and ballet which are two of her favorite types of dance. Sonia’s smile and enthusiasm for life is infections to all who meet her.
Tashauna Thompson
Tashauna Thompson is a smart junior at Randallstown High School. She is in the mass communications magnet program, where she contributes to the live morning announcements as well as the newspaper. Tashauna is also the PR manager for the junior class of 2010. She is interested in being on the air and hopes that the Teen Media Project will give her more experience behind the scenes of broadcasting as well as more on camera experience. She plans to major in Broadcast Journalism.
Brandon Goldner
Brandon Goldner has a passion for journalism. He is the managing editor and sports editor for his high school newspaper, the Pikesville High School Pipeline. He also writes for pressboxpreps.com, a website dedicated to local high school sports. His work has been praised by professional journalists including Jeff Seidel, Ken Rosenthal and Michael Olesker. The Maryland – D.C. Scholastic Press Association awarded Brandon second place for his article on the impact of concussions on high school athletes. Brandon’s favorite activities include watching football, working out, hanging out with friends and family, reading, writing articles, interviewing interesting people and working for Teen Perspective.
Scott Zolotorow
Scott Zolotorow is an 18-year-old senior at Owings Mills High School. He is a first time participant in the Teen Media Project. Scott became fascinated with journalism through his work at Kitay Productions and through broadcasting class in school. Working at a production company has allowed Scott to learn about sound boards, tapes and mixers. However through the Teen Media Program he hopes to gain more on camera experience. Scott dreams of becoming a sports broadcaster. He will continue his education in broadcast journalism at the University of Maryland.
A.J. Pieffer
A.J. Pieffer is a versatile sophomore at Patterson Mill High School. Not only does he actively participate in sports such as basketball and football, but he also is active in the school morning announcements. He is currently enrolled in a journalism class in which he helps produce for his school newspaper. He feels that this is not challenging enough though and likes to challenge himself through spur of the moment challenges such as with technology. Although he really likes fixing technical glitches, he does not enjoy pouring through the manuals.
Dan Marcus
Dan Marcus is a senior at Owings Mills High School. It is his second year in the program. Outside of his AP and Honors courses, Dan plays soccer, badminton, tennis and he wrestles for his school. He will attend Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications starting next fall. He plans to major in Broadcast Journalism.
Rushod Weathersbee
Rushod Weathersbee is a junior at Archbishop Curley High School. He attends the U.M.B.C. Upward Bound program during the summer. He is enjoying his first year in the Teen Media Project. Rushod pride himself on setting an example for his friends and classmates. He is a talented football player and he also runs track. Rushod plans to attend Hampton University.
