Power Boats
The four basic categories of recreation boats include powerboats, sailboats, fishing boats, and personal boats. Powerboats are the largest.

That's because any boat with an engine is considered a powerboat. That means everything from a super fast jet boat to a canoe or inflatable with a two and a half horsepower engine attached. One of the misconceptions about powerboats is that your fuel bills will be high.

That may be true, but the reality is that people don't actually operate their engine for as many hours as it seems. Most powerboaters use their engine an average of only 50 hours per year. Much of the boating enjoyment is at anchor, at a marina or cruising at idle.

Sailboats come in sizes ranging from 6 feet to Over 100, and yes, some sailboats also have engines, which makes them a power-sail boat.

Fishing boats are constructed with chairs for comfort, And easy to clean decks. Many fishing boats also double as ski boats. Personal boats include small tenders used to get you from an anchored vehicle to shore, as well as kayaks and canoes.

For more information on recreation boats and what's available, talk with a boat dealer in your area.
