Republican Andy Harris leads in Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Harford Counties. Democrat Frank Kratovil leads in every Eastern Shore County.

It's a close race between Democrat Frank Kratovil and Republican Andy Harris. On Thursday Election Officials will begin to count more than 25,000 absentee ballots. There is also an unknown number of Provisional ballots that will be counted beginning next week.

With tens of thousands of ballots to be counted for the House Race, it's unlikely to be settled before the end of next week.  Kratovil leads by fewer than 1,000 votes.

Some Political Analysts said ousted Republican Wayne Gilchrest's endorsement of Frank Kratovil help keep the race close.

A Kratovil win would be an upset in the First Congressional District that combines the conservative Eastern Shore with Republican leaning portions of Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Harford Counties.  It would also be a blow to former Governor Bob Ehrlich who endorsed Harris and campaigned with him.

Now it all comes down to counting the Absentee and Provisional ballots.
