Before his stop in Baltimore this Saturday, Obama's inaugural train will travel through several local counties. Thousands are expected to brave the cold to greet the president-elect as the train passes by. Excitement is building for Obama's whistle stop tour. Stacy Saint John will be busy serving up drinks that day. Her restaurant Clarence's in Edgewood is right next to the marc station where the inaugural train will pass by. She says, "I am absolutely amazed. We just figured when we heard about the train that he would fly by here at 90 mph and we wouldn't be able to see anything."
Turns out there will be plenty to see. The train will almost come to a complete stop. People coming out to the Edgewood station will get a special treat. Obama, Biden and their families will step out on the platform to greet the crowd. Harford County has designated three locations where people can gather to greet Obama as he makes his way to D.C. They are behind Havre De Grace Middle School on Lewis Lane, the Aberdeen train station on Route 40, and the Marc station in Edgewood. The train is expected to come through the Edgewood stop at around 2:45 pm. Parking will not be allowed at that site, but shuttle service will be available at Edgewood High School.
Bob Thomas, spokesman for Harford County says, "We're expecting several thousand people because of this historic event and we simply ask they understand security will be tight." Cecil County has also designated two locations. They are the Perryville Marc Station and the Old Pennsylvania Railroad Depot in Elkton. It's an opportunity some say they will not miss. It is illegal to walk or stand along the railroad tracks. If you want to see the inaugural train, you're advised to go to Amtrak or Marc train stations along the route.
