Update
It's been a rough day along Belair Road after a water main break created a huge hole.
The area is right near the beltway between Fowler and Taylor avenue. Water was shutoff to about 200 homes and businesses in the area.
The break caused flooding in some buildings. The Overlea Personal Physicians turned away about 100 patients this afternoon, and homeowners are trying to get by without water.
"You know you don't realize how much you appreciate the water until you don't have it anymore. No showers, I think oh man I feel sticky. No showers, I didn't even think about it," said Tina Wooden, who lives nearby.
No word yet on the cause of the water main break or when service will be back on.
Crews from the Baltimore City Department of Public Works are on the scene of a water main break in Overlea that has all but one lane of Belair Road blocked, just south of the beltway.
According to a spokesperson for the department, they got the call for the break at around 9:30 a.m. Friday. They say it appears to be a 12-inch main that has broken.
Currently about 200 homes and businesses in the area are without water. Public Works says they do not know when the repair work to the main will be complete but they hope to have it done by the end of the day.
Belair Road is closed between Taylor and Fowler Avenues. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
