Helicopter Crash Survivor's Condition Upgraded

Last Update: 10/14/2008 6:10 pm

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A hospital official says the condition of the sole survivor of a deadly crash of a medevac helicopter last month has been upgraded.

Cindy Rivers, a spokeswoman for the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, says 18-year-old Jordan Wells' condition has been upgraded to serious but stable. Rivers says Wells still has many months of recovery ahead of her.

A medical helicopter carrying Wells and another victim of a traffic accident went down in a park in District Heights last
month. Of five people aboard, Wells was the only survivor. The crash prompted state emergency response officials to
announce a review of operations for Maryland's medevacs by a national panel of experts. Consultations will now be required
before air transport.
