State Calls First Witness in Dixon Trial

Last Update: 11/13/2009 11:18 am
Testimony has begun in Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon's theft trial.

State prosecutors called their first witness, Randell Finney, to the stand Friday morning. Finney is an employee of Doracon Contracting, which is owned by Ronald Lipscomb, the mayor's former boyfriend. Lipscomb has agreed to testify against Dixon.

Finney testified that he purchased gift cards and Dixon told him in a telephone conversation to give the cards to her driver. Prosecutors brought up Finney's immunity agreement and pointed out that he could face perjury charges if he doesn't tell the truth.

In its cross examination, the defense went over that deal in more detail.
