BALTIMORE -- A judge has waived an initial appearance for Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon, who's charged with theft and perjury.

Dixon was to be arraigned Tuesday, alongside City Councilwoman Helen Holton and developer Ronald Lipscomb. Holton and Lipscomb are charged with bribery in a separate case.

But Baltimore Circuit Judge John Philip Miller said prosecutors and defense attorneys for all three defendants agreed "no purpose would be served" by their appearance in court Tuesday.

Attorneys in all three cases have filed motions asking that the cases be specially assigned to a single judge. Miller says he will rule on those motions within a week.
