LOSS A GREAT HUSBAND, FATHER & LEADER by: David W. Johnson, Jr. Just what in this World is it going to take for adults to wake-up We are losing great leaders, role models, babies and senior citizens It is way pass time for us to stop looking down and start looking up I can feel Dr. King’s tears falling on our heads from God’s Heaven Former City Councilman Kenneth N. Harris Sr. was killed during a robbery A Real Man, determined to change the negative ways today’s youth live This Great Leader deserves recognition for his determination and bravery Maryland and America need more Men who do more than shuck and jive Councilman Harris established the "Bridge to Manhood" Program, in 2005, A program to help our youth turn their lives around and become successful God called this Great Man but African Americans can keep his dreams alive Lives our young people live day after day is beyond detroriating and stressful It is truly, truly sad that the very type people he was trying to help, took his life Growing up in a rough area, Ken saw firsthand what a bad community was like. He also knew that the answer to our children’s survival was not a gun or knife In order to help people, Kenneth Harris did not wait for cameras or a mike Councilman Harris was not just a Great Politician but a Great Husband & Father Kenneth Harris Sr. was Councilman for the fourth district from 1999 until 2007 Helping constituents and Baltimore City, to this Great Man was never a bother Although God choose to call him home, he will be looking down from Heaven Baltimore City and the State of Maryland, show support by getting it together Do not let Brother Kenneth Harris, Senior’s life be just another life given in vain Brother Harris wanted us to start working together instead of killing one another Adults, from all the murders and all these drugs, we must help our youth to abstain I am writing this Poem in Support of Mrs. Kenneth Harris, Sr., and their Children
