Police in Baltimore City are still looking for a third suspect in connection with the murder of former City Councilman Ken Harris.
This week a grand jury indicted 19-year-old Charles McGaney of Baltimore City, and 20-year-old Gary Collins of Parkville. Now, Ken Harris' wife and daughter have announced a big increase in the reward for information leading to a third arrest.
‘It's almost like being in a nightmare movie; and you know it just constantly haunts you,’ said Harris’ widow, Annette.
Harris was killed during a robbery on September 20th, outside a jazz club in the Northwood Plaza shopping center. His daughter says memories of past holiday seasons, will make this one difficult. ‘Decorating the tree as a family, lighting the fireplace and having the fireplace decorated, playing old music like Nat King Cole, my father was a huge Christmas person. I believed in Santa Claus for a long time because he just made it that special,’ said his daughter, Nicole Crest.
Police have not said whether they believe one of the two men in custody actually pulled the trigger -- or whether it's the third man.
The Harris' say that's a detail they're not overly concerned about. ‘We're just trying to find the suspects in general; and then let the police do their jobs from there,’ Crest said.
The family has been raising money, and the reward for information leading to a third arrest now tops $20,000. They hope that motivates someone to come forward. ‘Of course it's not going to bring my husband back, but it does give us some hope that at least some justice will be served,’ Annette Harris said.
