Avoiding Pancreatic Cancer

Reported by: Kelly Swoope
Last Update: 6/24 1:33 pm
Statistics show pancreatic cancer is the nation's fourth leading cause of cancer-related death.

But, it is possible to decrease your risk of getting the disease.

A new study conducted at the University of Texas shows obesity for people under 40-years-old may increase the risk of developing the cancer in the future.

Researchers estimate nearly 27 percent of all cases of this highly lethal cancer are due in part to excess weight.

The research concludes maintaining a healthy weight, beginning at a young age* is a huge step towards preventing the illness.
