We're expecting about 35,000 doses of the vaccine to arrive early this week...possibly as soon as tomorrow.
But many people still have concerns and questions about whether or not its safe.
Healthcare workers on the front lines will be the first in line to receive the vaccine.
"Right now in the state of Maryland almost all of the influenza that is circulating is H1N1."
Other high risk groups include pregnant women and children but some who fall in those categories are a little apprehensive about the vaccine.
"The jury is still out on the vaccine."
But Infection Control Expert Dr. Trish Perl of Johns Hopkins hospital also adds it was created just like the seasonal flu vaccine, and clinical trials have shown no complications.
"I'm gonna tell you that the vaccine is important. It prevents disease. You should get it especially if you are in a high risk group."
While the live vaccine isn't recommended for pregnant women.....Dr. Perl says it is for children.
"For children it is clearly a very good vaccine. If not superior."
Dr. Perl says while the highly anticipated vaccine is important....it should not and will not take the place of the importance of good hygiene. With what's going around Kelly Swoope ABC 2 news.
