Good Morning Maryland @ 9, Jon Aumann from the Geek Squad explained how to protect personal information on the web. He explains, to make sure prying eyes are not accessing your personal information, you should follow these guidelines:
1) Your computer is only as good as its operating system, make sure it is up-to-date with the latest service pack and security updates. If not, make sure to install the latest updates for your computer’s operating system and software by visiting one of the following links for assistance: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X.
2) Make sure that you’ve installed a reputable and up-to-date Antivirus program. It will protect you from any malware (malware = malicious software and includes viruses, worms, adware, spyware, etc.) that will try to harm your computer.
3) If you have a wireless network, you want to make sure you have it properly configured to prevent outsiders from hacking into your network. Make sure you turn on the password protection and use a good password.
