It took the jury six days and about 40 hours to deliberate and bring back a verdict that will have a big impact on Baltimore City. The jury found Mayor Sheila Dixon
guilty on one count in the case against her.
Dixon was accused of using gift cards that were intended for poor families. She was found guilty of fraudulent misappropriation by a fiduciary, but Dixon was acquitted of felony theft charges, the most serious charge against her.
After the verdict was read, dixon promised to focus on the needs of the city and said the verdict does not affect her responsibility to continue serving the City of Baltimore.
When asked whether the Mayor would step down from office, Dixon's attorney, Arnold Weiner said that all things are being considered. A sentencing date has not been set.
