HCC Named Great College

The Chronicle of Higher Education announced Howard Community College's selection as a 2009 "Great College to Work For." It is based on exceptional work environments.

The recognition program, which is academe's version of Fortune's popular "100 Best Companies to Work For" issue, evaluated 247, two and four year colleges in the United States.

Howard Community College was the only community college in Maryland to be cited with national recognition.

"All of us at Howard Community College are honored to be selected as a 2009 Great College to Work For," said Dr. Kate Hetherington, President of Howard Community College. "There is a secret ingredient as to why an overwhelming number of faculty and staff enjoy their work so much at HCC. Everything we do is focused on student success."

The national recognition is based on the results of a survey completed in March and April 2009 by faculty and staff at 247, two and four year colleges. More than 41,000 employees nationwide participated in the survey.
