A Christmas Classic Comes to Life

Contributor: Tia Craddock
Last Update: 12/11/2009 6:54 am
For the 20th year, the Baltimore County Youth Ballet will take on a Christmas classic. The group will perform The Nutcracker at the Peggy and Yale Gordon center for the Performing Arts on December 12th and 13th.

Although it is based on the traditional Nutcracker Suite, the ballet is specifically geared for children.  The cast is made up of more than 80 children ranging from six-years-old to 18-years-old.

The production is staged and directed by Laura Gurdus Dolid, dance faculty member at Goucher College, The Sudbrook Arts Centre, UMBC, and Peabody Preparatory. Ms. Dolid also serves as the Artistic Director of the Baltimore County Youth Ballet.

On Good Morning Maryland @ 9, dancers, Bridget Bingham, Jacqueline Needle, and Serenity Bennett gave a sample of what's to come.
