I’m a huge fan of YouTube.  I find it very entertaining.  Usually I am searching for something I missed on the news or reporter bloopers (I can’t help it – I find them funny).  I also happen to be a huge fan of cooking and saving money.  Who knew YouTube could be the object of a new obsession…

Great Depression cooking.  Search it on YouTube and you’ll find Clara.  Clara Cannucciari is a 91-year-old great grandmother who cooks and talks about growing up during the Great Depression and the meals she and her family prepared.  First of all, Clara is as cute as buttons.  I love her.  She is enthusiastic and the prefect tutor. The meals are the same ones she helped her mother prepare.  They are inexpensive yet tasty.

She has used YouTube as an online cooking show.  I think the idea is genius.  From the “Pasta with Peas” to the “Poorman’s Meal” they are all really easy and fun to watch.  I made one of Clara’s meals for my husband the other day… he seemed to like it!  It’s certainly not epicurious.com – but it’s fun, easy, yummy and cheap.  Sounds like a good combination to me.
