Want to Get Rid of the Refrigerator?

Reported by: Megan Pringle
Last Update: 8/26 10:44 am
Cash for Clunkers is over and a lot of people took advantage of the government program.  Now there’s a new 300 million dollar rebate program funded by the stimulus bill could heat up the appliance industry.  It's a little like "cash for clunkers".  Instead of turning in your old gas guzzler, you replace your refrigerator, dishwasher, or air conditioner.  If you take advantage of it, you get a rebate check when you buy an energy efficient model.  Rebates are expected to range anywhere from 50 to 200 dollars.  The program is expected to kick off in late October.

Do you like the idea?  It’s good for the environment and could help the appliance industry.  It makes you wonder… what’s next?  Feel free to leave your comments below.
