It is official. A ban on trans fats in foods sold at Baltimore restaurants is now in effect. Businesses are no longer permitted to prepare or cook foods with ingredients that have more than half a gram of trans fats per serving.
I would love to know what you think about this – so feel free to leave your comments below. Do you think it’s appropriate for the city to step in when it comes to what restaurants serve – or what you eat? New York did it. Are you glad Baltimore did? Do you think you will be able to taste a difference?
I’m also curious – how hard will it be to enforce this? I would guess the city health department has a lot on their plate. According to the health department, they have resources available for city businesses and restaurants that need help complying with the new law.
