Despite all the cake I wolfed down over the weekend, I have stepped up my workouts. I am really trying to push myself, but I feel like I peaked. I am happy with where I am but I would like to keep improving. I called one of my buddies who is in ridiculously good shape to find out what else I can do. She is the queen of fitness tips. She always has simple, new things to go that she swears will give you a boost.
Here they are…
-Cut down on sugar drinks - there's nothing good about soda (diet or not).
-Try to eat lower fat or fat-free dairy products most of the time.
-If you're in front of the TV spend five minutes stretching your hips and upper back.
-Do five minutes of deep breathing and meditation at some point each day.
-Cut down on alcohol.
-Do 10 minutes of calisthenics like a quick circuit of body weight squats, push-ups and dumbbell rows two or three times a week.
It all seems easy enough. After she gave me some of these tips we chatted about it and her point was this: when it comes to taking care of your body and your health, you can’t cram and a little goes a LONG way. Challenge yourself to make a small shift in one thing that you’re doing that you know isn’t great for you in the long run.
