Is Going Prestige Worth It?
You’ve made it to level 55 in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and it might have taken you a while to get there. Are you ready to give up all of those weapons and perks you’ve earned? And what about those challenges you completed? Not to mention the fact that you’ve probably taken for granted that you can create your own class at level 4. So is it worth it? Is it worth going through the levels over and over just to have a snappy symbol next to your name? There are a total of 10 times to restart your level, which happens automatically once you commit to prestige mode. Each level of prestige is marked with a different medal. I say it is worth it.
I’ve been playing since November and I got to level 55 sometime near the end of December. Its been fun having a full arsenal of weapons and perks to choose from, but after developing a style of play, I really only use a couple of them. Then its always the same thing and its been getting pretty boring. Even though its fun having the edge and putting people through the slaughterhouse, I can just as easily be the one that’s slaughtered.
So why did I do it? Its somewhat of an investment of your time and to start completely over seems like you’ll really suffer. Plus, will anyone still be playing as much come this spring? There are a lot of long awaited games due out and people may not be playing as much COD4. Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Grand Theft Auto IV are the ones that stand out to me. COD4 has already thought of this, and are somewhat prepared to try and renew everyone’s interest by releasing new maps. They too, are due this spring.
After starting Prestige Mode a week ago, I’m already at level 30. Every thing has been flying by and I have most of the guns and perks back now. I’m mostly playing Hardcore Team Deathmatch. I have to say I’m having a lot more fun than I thought I would. Its really cool seeing my experience points go up as I level up each game. Now I feel at least I am working for something instead of just going through the motions for each match. To help you fly through the levels, make sure you complete as many of the weapons challenges as possible to maximize your experience points. So if you’re not enjoying Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare the way you used to, you might want to go prestige.
If you’re still against it, you can always try getting the gold weapons. The gold Desert Eagle is available once you reach level 55. As for the others, you need to complete all of that weapons challenges. I’m talking about the kills and the headshots. The 150 kills with a weapon is easy enough, but 150 headshots? Well, if it helps, try and develop a habit of shooting at someone’s chest. With the recoil and some practice, you should be able to make those headshots in no time.
Now some weapons may seem impossible to use. You just don’t get enough stopping power with certain guns like the G3. Just get yourself into a Hardcore Team Deathmatch and you’ll be getting your numbers up no problem. Either the health is lower or the guns are twice as powerful, you don’t have to shoot someone as much as you would in regular Team Deathmatch. So go ahead and take a chance, use some other perks and find out what you’ve been missing.
