Review: Magnacarta 2 For XBOX 360

Last Update: 10/27 1:34 pm
Love the graphics and the music.  The in game graphics are beautiful too.

I appreciate the time taken out for teaching the game.  The tutorial is not only well detailed, but it will remain in your notes/letters area which is called the ‘cube mail’.

Things that are usually taken for granted in games more often than not is the ability to read the menus.  All conversations are easy to read and thankfully, also audible.  There is so much going on with character interaction you would be bored to tears in any other game having to read all of this dialogue.

Do not like – So much to learn that replay value would be low.  You couldn’t just pick this game up 4 months later without having to relearn everything.  You’ll have to play about 9 hours before you even unlock everything.  That amount of time includes some time spent leveling.  Its not a big deal if this is the only game you are devoted to playing, but considering all the games coming out, its not likely.  The story starts where you play a character called Juto who has lost his memory.  You live on an island and all your character is concerned with is sleeping.

I don’t like the core of the gameplay. Its not like a classic RPG where you pick the attack and it is doled out itself.  You are button mashing to some degree, but you have to be careful.  If you over do it, your character will over heat and will be useless in the fight.  So you’ll need a sequence to pull off chain attacks to dish out big damage, but unfortunately aren’t all that exciting visually.  After learning chain attacks, kan, and more of the basics of the game you are introduced to the weapons skill tree and then weapon enhancement. Although these two features seem small, it will impact your battles greatly.  Some characters skills only are available under certain conditions, but you can still change them during battle.

Overall, its worth picking up and giving it a try. I give it a 3 out of 5.
