More water is used in August than any other month, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. But the EPA says there are six things you can do to lower your water bill.
1. Water your yard only when it's necessary.
2. Consider using WaterSense labeled toilets, faucets and accessories. They use 20 % less water. Over the course of a year, that could save you $60.
3. Water your landscapes very early in the morning or evening.
4. Wash only full loads of laundry and dishes. When you can, you should also try to scrape dishes, instead of rinsing them, when loading your dishwasher.
5. Keep a pitcher of water in the fridge. That way, you won't have to run the tap until the water is cold.
6. Fix leaks in your house. The EPA says fixing leaks will save you $50 a year on your bill.
