Baltimore's Board of Estimates has approved the sale of land downtown intended for a slots and entertainment facility.
The board approved the sale for more than $13 million for Celebration Casino. The developer, Baltimore City Entertainment Group LP, based in Toronto, was approved by the city in April. The group had applied to build 500 slot machines on the site.
The proposed $212 million casino will be built on land in the Carroll-Camden industrial area, south of M&T Bank Stadium.
Mayor Sheila Dixon says that "most" of the gaming revenues would go toward reducing property taxes.
