Man Charged with Three Robberies

Last Update: 6/15/2009 7:54 pm
An Ellicott City man is in police custody tonight, charged with three robberies of convenient stores and gas stations in the area, police say.

Michael James Fewster, 30, of the 3400-block of Plum Tree is charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, robbery, first and second-degree assault, theft and use of a handgun in commission of a felony.

Fewster's arrest closes three Ellicott City robbery cases. Two of the robberies occurred at the Crown gas station on Baltimore National Pike. The first one happened May 24 and the second one happened June 4. The third robbery happened June 6 at the High's convenient store in the 4800-block of Montgomery Road.

In all three robberies police say Fewster approached the clerk, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the cash register.

Police used surveillance video to identify the suspect's vehicle.

Fewster is being held on $50,000 bail at the Howard County Detention Center.
