The burglaries were all very much a like. They've all been in single family homes....targeted because the owners were at work or just didn't look occupied for some time.
Doors were kicked in or windows were smashed, that’s how they got inside. One of the robberies happened in Brian Callahan's neighborhood just two weeks ago.
'I'm concerned I'm concerned for my family I travel every week for two days and them being here by themselves.' Callahan says.
Howard County Police say the burglaries are scattered around the county but the bulk have been in neighborhoods right off of Route 100, Route 32 and Route 175.
Twenty seven homes hit this month alone...all the same way. The burglars were so bold they didn't confine themselves to small easy to take items.
'It seems like anything of value is up for grabs when it comes to these particular thieves they're taking large items such as electronics televisions.' Howard County Police Spokeswoman Sherry Llewelyn says.
And since they are taking large, hard to carry items police believe it's more than one person and they may be using a truck or van.
Look for something that should be easy to spot but may not be given much notice.
'These are cases where we really believe the publics help can be critical. Where we have criminals carrying large televisions out of homes we want neighbors to call us that should raise a red flag and be suspicious.' Llewelyn says.
Police say residents should keep a closer eye out for things that may look a little odd.
Knocks on the door then the person makes an excuse for knocking and goes away. Vans or trucks that shouldn't be in a neighbor’s driveway....things like that.
