Deputy Shoots Man with Knife

Harford County police received a 911 call on Saturday, advising that residents in a household were being threatened by another member of the household who had a knife. 

When an officer arrived at the 1000-block of Ellicott Drive, a family member met him outside and warned him of the situation.  The deputy entered the residence.

The suspect, identified as Jason Lawrence, 23, threatened the deputy with the knife. 

The deputy fired at him and hit him several times in the front torso. 

Lawrence was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he later died.

A man was shot by a Harford County deputy and later died, according to police officials. 

The man threatened the deputy with a knife.  The deputy then shot the suspect. 

The suspect was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he later died.

Police are still investigating the incident. 

The deputy has been put on administrative leave, pending the results of an internal investigation.  This is normal procedure.

A Harford County deputy shot a suspect after the man threatened him with a knife, according to police.

Around noon on Saturday, the deputy responded to the 1000-block of Ellicott Drive in Bel Air. 

He encountered an adult male holding a knife.  The man then threatened the deputy. 

The deputy shot the man.  The suspect was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in critical condition. 

The officer was not injured in the incident.
