A Joppa man is recovering after police say he was beaten with a bat by his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend.

Deputies from the Harford County Sheriff's Office were called to the 300-block of Trimble Road in Joppa at around 6:30 Saturday morning after someone called 911 to report an assault in progress. At the scene deputies found the 22-year-old victim with trauma to his head and body. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview with non-life threatening injuries, according to Monica Worrell, a spokesperson for the department

Police say the suspect, Brian Perc of Nottingham, came to the victim's apartment, also the residence of his ex-girlfriend, at around 6 a.m. He knocked on the door and when no one answered he began climbing up to the third story balcony.

Perc was able to get inside the apartment and when he was approached by the victim he began striking him with a bat. Two people were home at the time of the attack. Both were able to push Perc out of the apartment before he fled the scene, says Worrell.

A few hours later Perc was in a car accident where he suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was also taken to Bayview Hospital.

Charges for Perc are pending, says Worrell. He will be arrested when he is released from the hospital and charged with first- and fourth-degree burglary, first- and second-degree assault, and possession of a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure.
