DENTON, Md. (AP) -- A Hurlock man has been sentenced to life in prison plus 15 years in the shooting death of a man in Federalsburg in 2008.
Twenty-four-year-old Joseph Stanley Jr. was found guilty in August of first- and second-degree murder and other crimes. The charges stemmed from the killing of 29-year-old Maurice Stanley III of Hartley, Del. The two men were not related.
Prosecutors say Joseph Stanley and another, unidentified man went to a trailer park early May 6, 2008, to wait for Maurice Stanley, who was in his cousin's trailer making 1,000-gram bundles of cocaine valued at $25,000 each.
The two men planned to rob Maurice Stanley of the drugs and cash. Maurice Stanley was shot at least six times after he left the trailer.
