Teacher Charged With Fondling Boy

Last Update: 9/03/2009 1:31 pm
A Cecil County middle school teacher has been charged with fondling a 15-year-old boy.

Elkton Police say 62-year-old Geofrey McCool of Elkton, a social studies teacher at North East Middle School, offered two children money to get in his car to go to a yard sale on Aug. 22.

When they walked away, police say McCool grabbed the 15-year-old boy and touched the boy's genitals and put his arm around the 9-year-old girl.

McCool was arrested Monday and charged with fourth-degree sex offense and three counts of second-degree assault. School officials say McCool has been reassigned to the central office until the charges are resolved.

McCool's lawyer denies the allegations, saying McCool gave the girl money for her sick grandfather.
