The Cecil County sheriff's office says deputy used a stun gun after a short chase that began when the deputy tried to stop the car.

When Dfc. John Lines tried to stop a car with expired registration in Elkton on Thursday, the sheriff's office says the driver fled, then crashed nearby.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Michael Holmes says Lines ordered 18-year-old Teron O'Brien to put the car in park, but O'Brien tried to drive away.

That's when Holmes says the deputy fired the stun gun through the open window to stop him.

Holmes says deputies found suspected marijuana in the car. He says O'Brien is charged with fleeing and eluding a police officer and possession of marijuana. His passenger, a 17-year-old teen, is charged with possession of marijuana.
