TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County Police have charged a man arrested in January for a rape in 1981 with a second rape in 1980.
Fifty-eight-year-old Herman Bolling was charged in the 1981 rape on Oct. 15. He is charged with two counts of first-degree rape, attempted first-degree murder, and first-degree burglary. He is being held without bail.
Detectives resubmitted DNA evidence in the 1980 case and learned that it matched Bolling.
In the 1980 rape, a man broke into a woman's apartment in Woodlawn, put a knife to her throat and raped her.
In the 1981 crime, a man armed with a handgun forced his way inside a woman's home in Franklin, tied her hands, raped her and tried to suffocate and strangle her.
