Baltimore police say a man charged in a warrant with assaulting a city officer by dragging him with his car earlier this month has been arrested.

Police say 27-year-old Rickey Hughes was arrested on Monday after a citywide manhunt and he was being held Tuesday at the Central Booking and Intake Center.

Police say Hughes appeared at a police station on Oct. 1 for a hearing with his probation officer and fled when he learned he was to be arrested in a Baltimore County home invasion. As Hughes drove off, police say an officer tried to take the keys and was dragged for five blocks before he freed himself. Another officer fired at least one shot, shattering the car's rear window.

Police say the first officer's body armor saved him from serious injuries.
