Some never to be found again. As you take your family out during the holidays, ABC 2's Denise Dory has this call 2 action to keep you safe and together. It's a terrifying feeling- you're shopping at the mall, you look down and your child is missing. It’s situations like these that prompted the Franzus Company to create a device called "angel alert". With the help of a local family we put the security system to the test. Zelda Green cares for her eight grandchildren, many times bringing them to the Eastpoint mall.
She tries to keep everyone together as they walk store to store. I wear bright colors and I make them wear bright colors and I can see them But even with a watchful eye, children can still slip away. She ran off one time in this mall and the police had to bring her back to me A new device, called angel alert, promotes itself as a child monitoring system, ideal for crowded malls.
The adult wears one half, the child the other. and if they get too far apart? Beeping... Neesha, you need to come back, come on boo.... Okay very good The angel alert gives a 30 foot radius around the adult. Plenty of room for a child to roam, but still within seeing distance. Alright Neesha But Ms. Green says there are a few shortcomings with angel alert. It’s not loud enough. You don't know which direction she went to, so you'd be running all around the mall trying to find her. Franzus, the company that makes "angel alert", does warn that the device is not meant to be a substitute for a watchful eye. In response to Ms. Green's comments, the company says the parent should shorten the neck cord so it's closer to the ears.
In the next generation for the product the company is considering changing the cadence of the alarm so that it makes a different sound when you are facing the direction that the child took off in.
