Last Update: 8/28/2009 4:05 pm

The school year is off to a good start in Maryland with some much needed supplies. SECU, the State Employees Credit Union, donated thousands of supplies to students in Maryland.

The supplies were presented to Brooklyn Park Elementary in Anne Arundel County. Other supplies will be delivered to eight additional schools throughout the State.

Working in partnership with SECU, the Maryland State Department of Education identified the schools throughout the state that would most benefit from the contributions.

"We appreciate the generosity of SECU employees in creating a program that benefits students and helps them get a good start in school," said State Superintendent Nancy Grasmick.

The campaign involved SECU's 18 branches around the state.
