Even a little rain couldn't dampen the spirits of these fresh faces......the kids from Sandy Plains elementary are ready to return.
"Are you nervous, excited,.....both."
"I'm very excited more than the children."
But no one is more excited than principal Harry Walker....he's in sixth year at the school.
"The start of any new school year is just so exciting and its filled with optimism. And today is just an example of that."

Hundreds of parents and students came to check out their classrooms.....seat assignments....and meet their teachers.
"I'll show you where your lockers is."
Mrs. Warlick is teaching third grade this year.
"I'm excited this is my first time in the class and I'm excited for new friends and other stuff."
"I love this school. I live two blocks away. It's convenient."
"A backpack full of school supplies....just another incentive to get excited about Monday. Franklin Square Hospital Center donated nearly 700 backpacks one for each student."
"We wanted to do something to give back to the community....... "When you do it across the board like this, everyone in their classroom starts out on day one with all the supplies they need to have a good school year."
This is the hospitals' fourth year....and their good deed is appreciated.....especially in these tough times.
"That's a big help because some kids don't have a lot of school supplies, book bags notebooks. So it's a good help to everyone who can't afford it."
Now that they're armed with the tools they'll be packed and ready to hit the books come Monday morning at 830.
