Masters of the Chainsaw is a limited group of the nation’s top professional chainsaw sculptors.  At a typical show, from behind protective netting, onlookers will observe an original and captivating high-energy performance. With chain saw roaring and chips flying, our carvers' precision and skill quickly transforms a three-foot tall log into a true work of art. Nearly every show will result with a carving being-produced from start to finish.

MASTER OF THE CHAINSAW MARTY LONG TAKES POWER CARVING TO THE LIMIT

Author William Hazlitt once wrote “rules and models destroy all art and genius." If he were right then one can hardly deny the art or genius of sculptor Marty Long. This self-taught artist, with little to follow but his desire for excellence, has turned the most dangerous and destructive power tool ever devised into an instrument of true creation. Marty will perform several shows from Friday, August 22 through Monday, September 1 at the 127th Maryland State Fair.  For Master of the Chainsaw show times, see the Fair Schedule at www.marylandstatefair.com

In as little as 60 minutes Marty can turn a 3-foot-tall log into a detailed work of art using chainsaws only. Trees are transformed into bears, eagles or whatever the carver’s creativity desires. Some call it extreme carving and once you witness the performance of the artwork you will know why.
