Ride MTA to the Maryland State Fair
Timonium Light Rail Stop is right at the heart of all the action!
The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) encourages visitors to the Maryland State Fair to take the Light Rail directly to the Timonium Fairgrounds stop. Additionally, patrons may take Local Buses No. 8 or No. 9. The State Fair, which normally attracts more than 400,000 people, begins on Friday, August 22 and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 1. The State Fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. “Our Light Rail brings you to the center of the State Fair with convenient, free parking at our Light Rail parking lots,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, MTA Administrator. “At $3.50, the MTA Day Pass is the blue ribbon winner in travel to and from the State Fair!”

Light Rail:
Fair attendees can take Light Rail to the Timonium Light Rail Stop for direct access to the entrance to the fairgrounds. The last Light Rail trains will leave Timonium at 11 p.m. each day of the Fair. Light Rail will run off-peak service between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, Sunday, August 31 and Labor Day, Monday, September 1.

No. 8 and 9 Bus Lines:
From Baltimore’s Maryland Transit Center at Baltimore and Green Streets, take the No. 8 Local Bus to York Rd. Patrons can then transfer to the No. 9 at the Lutherville Light Rail Stop, which stops at the Timonium Park & Ride/Light Rail Stop just outside the Fair’s Cow Palace.

Metro Subway:
Take Metro Subway to the State Center Station, a short walk to the Cultural Center Stop, and take Light Rail directly to the Fair.

The MTA will have a booth at the Fair’s Exhibition Hall where it will have staff available to answer questions and distribute MTA schedules and fare information. The MTA Transit Team, which provides daily transit reports on local television and radio stations, will originate its broadcasts live from the Fair during the afternoons. Fares for all Local MTA Buses, Light Rail and Metro Subway are $1.60 one-way, $3.20 round-trip and $3.50 for a Day Pass. For information on MTA services, please visit the MTA website at www.mtamaryland.com.
