As Sen. Barbara Mikulski winds down her last year in office, she's trying to create more jobs in Maryland.

The senator cut the ribbon for the James Webb Space Telescope Mission Operations Center. Mikulski supports the project for the jobs it helped create at the Space Telescope Institute.

All of the information scientists gather at this center is stored in a database. It's named after the senator for her efforts to create opportunities for exploration.

"This is really the digital library for all of the work of all of the space telescopes in all of the world," Mikulski said. "All right here at this incredible repository of astronomical knowledge and legacy."

Mikulski said the new center helps America achieve new grounds in science, discovery and exploration. She has budgeted 98 million dollars for the Hubble Space Telescope so it continues finding new discoveries.
