During, and especially after, the chaos in Dallas Thursday night, local political and community leaders took to social media to share their reactions.
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake reacted as events were still unfolding, making her one of the earlier Maryland officials to do so.
Other leaders, including Gov. Larry Hogan and activist and former mayoral candidate Deray McKesson, offered their prayers for those affected.
"Like all Americans, I am deeply concerned about racial disparities in our criminal justice system and about gun violence in our communities, our schools and our churches," Sen. Barbara Mikulskhi said on Facebook. "Police officers have a difficult job and the vast majority serve in an outstanding and honorable manner."
