Looming pilot shortage

There is another looming problem for the airline industry.

Airlines in the United States are facing a serious pilot shortage.

Higher experience requirements for new hires go into effect next summer.

The requirements will raise the cost and time of training new pilots, while pay cuts and demanding schedules make the job less attractive.

Making things worse, thousands of senior pilots are approaching the mandatory retirement age of 65.
