The battle to turn holiday sales into an all-year event continues as Amazon announced Prime Day will return.

Amazon has announced July 12 will be "Prime Day" — an event to help support the company's Prime membership.

“Prime Day is a unique opportunity to discover new items and great deals, on top of our already low prices. Following last year’s record sales, we have dramatically increased the inventory behind many deals,” said Greg Greeley, Vice President of Amazon Prime in a news release.

Amazon Prime will offer double the amount of TVs, though website officials say they still expect a sell-out.

“Even with this massive selection we know many of the Prime Day offers will sell out, so members should download the Amazon shopping app to receive notifications on their favorite deals.”

Prime members are promised new deals every five minutes throughout the day. The deals begin at midnight Pacific Time. Amazon announced Prime members will get 100,000 exclusive deals.

Other things to know:
• A 32-inch TV bundle with a Fire TV Stick will be $119.99
• Countdown deals will include: Gadgets on-the-go, products for summer travel, items for foodies and outdoor living
• There will be back-to-school deals
• In-home essentials will be part of Amazon Prime Day deals
• There will be daily deals through July 11
• Deals include top TV series and blockbuster movies available for rent or purchase

According to Amazon, members throughout the globe ordered 398 items per second during the inaugural event in 2015.

Walmart, meanwhile, announced in a blog post plans to offer a free 30-day trial for the company's ShippingPass, which gives unlimited 2-day shipping. Those who have ShippingPass will get an extra month for free.
