Brides are scrambling after Alfred Angelo Bridal, one of the largest manufacturers and retailers of bridal gowns, decided to close all of its stores.

"They pretty much said that they just found out today that they're going to be closing permanently for good and that i needed to get in here by 8 o'clock tonight to get my dress," said bridesmaid, Amanda Cordes.

The only Alfred Angelo store in Maryland is in Glen Burnie. That store was also closing for good at 8 p.m. Thursday.

After receiving a call from the store, local brides rushed in Thursday to pick up their dresses.

This is Tamara calling from Alfred Angelo Bridal in Glen Burnie. I'm calling to let you know as of today they just told us our store will be shut down. I know you have a bridesmaid dress here. Could you please give us a call back.

"I said you've got to be kidding me. I work in Virginia. Didn't call the bride at all. I called her and said you know they're closing today is your dress there and she was like oh my God, she had to leave her job," said Antoinette Essex.

Brides across the country have taken to social media to try to figure out if they'll be refunded for purchases.

One customer said already purchased items may be shipped. Others who shopped at various stores from Florida to California may have to deal with a total loss and get a bankruptcy attorney to attempt to get their money back.

Alfred Angelo operates more than 60 stores in the U.S. and its designs are sold at 1,400 retailers across the world. ABC2 News tried to get in touch with the company but our attempts were unsuccessful.
