May is National Moving Month and the kick-off to the busy season for movers.
The best movers are going to be busy, and that leaves a lot of room for less reputable companies to take advantage of consumers who may not be able – or want – to wait.
Angie Hicks has the following advice for consumers to find a good mover and avoid the bad ones.
“Three things to watch out for before hiring a mover: Don’t shop on price alone. Don’t pay a large deposit up front. And also, don’t hire someone with an unmarked van or dirty supplies.”
“No company is perfect so be sure you understand the insurance. Typical insurance is by weight but you can upgrade to get insurance based on the value of the item.”
