Local Teen Gospel Singer

A teen's journey into music.

By Kendra Hawkins

A lot of teenagers love to sing whether it is in the shower or in front of a crowd, but one local singer has a stellar passion for this art form. 17 year old gospel singer, Ryan Jackson, is a high school senior who has been singing so long he can not exactly remember when he started. However, Ryan can remember that he taught himself to sing by listening to others and mimicking.  He was also influenced by his mother and sister. Growing up Ryan was deeply rooted in the church and the church environment had a huge impact on him.  Now Ryan wants to be a gospel singer.

In 2006 Ryan joined the Maryland Children's choir and on a trip he took to Florida with the choir he met a speaker who gave him a special blessing; "she said that my gift will never be perverted and until this day there have been opportunities for people to take advantage of me, and they just have not been able to" said Ryan. His gift is truly flourishing.   Ryan left the Maryland Children's choir and headed up his own group, "Ryan and Predestined".  Then Ryan went solo and he has spent countless hours in the recording studio.

One song that Ryan recorded in the studio was In Your Presence, which can be found on iTunes, Amazon, and at ryanjacksononline.com. Ryan stated "the inspiration for In Your Presence hearts open up, and you can find peace in his presence" and since the release of that song Ryan has been working on new projects including a compilation album. In the future Ryan plans on attending Full Sail University for music business, aspires to win a Stellar Award, and work with talented gospel music artists such as Donald Lawrence and Brittany Wright.
