Baltimore has been home for Bill Fink most of his life. Raised in Baltimore County, he is a proud graduate of Kenwood High and Towson University (then Towson State University). Then in 1982, he started his career at WMAR as a videographer and video editor.

Bill’s most memorable assignments were covering Governor Schaefer’s trip through Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia; the “Return to Flight” shuttle launch, the first after the Challenger tragedy; Pope John Paul II’s visit to Denver; the final game played at Memorial Stadium; and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s performance at Carnegie Hall in New York.

After all these years, Bill is still passionate about the craft. Always eager to learn and share what he learns, he has been to National Press Photographers Association Workshop and the Poynter Institute for Media Studies. He has been a judge at the White House Press Photographers TV Contest. In 1996, Bill developed and moderated a seminar for the NPPA on team building and storytelling.

In an industry that is constantly evolving, Bill cherishes his good fortune to work at WMAR. Having worked with so many talented reporters, managers and fellow “photogs” over the years, he has studied from the best and continues to be excited about each new opportunity.

Bill Fink is married and has two sons. They live in Baltimore City
